Owner Kelly Burns was first introduced to the discipline, patience, and precision of working with fabric through her grandmother’s upholstery shop. That early exposure shaped both her technical foundation and her respect for the craft.

Born in Florida and raised in Pennsylvania, Kelly later attended college in San Francisco and spent time living in Manhattan. These experiences broadened her perspective on construction, style, and the role clothing plays in how people present themselves.

Three years ago, Kelly took ownership of Tailor Shop SRQ — a business that has served the Sarasota community in this location for over 20 years. Since then, her focus has been on preserving that legacy while refining the standard of work and client experience.

As both a mother and a business owner, Kelly has built a team of dedicated women — many of them mothers — who bring skill, care, and consistency to their work. The studio operates with a shared commitment to precision, professionalism, and respect for the garments entrusted to them.

Tailor Shop SRQ is deeply grateful for its clients, many of whom bring in pieces that carry personal meaning. That trust is not taken lightly.
